BRUNEI Darussalam table tennis player Awangku Abdul Rasheed bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Noor staged a remarkable comeback from the jaws of defeat in the men’s singles final to win the Brunei National Table Tennis Championship at the Menglait Sports Complex on Sunday.

The young talent withstood pressure when his opponent Wee Tzu Min moved to championship point and stared defeat in the face with 10-8 down on the fifth set, but he rallied to tie the scores.

FOLLOWING the preliminary round held the previous day, the first tug-of-war competition organised by the KB Bull Brothers and Fire Bravo 995 tug-of-war teams continued at the Municipal Small Field in Seria on Sunday afternoon.

Nine teams from across the country as well as neighbouring countries competed at the two-day event, with four advancing to the finals from the preliminary round – Chainblock Brunei A, Otai Tug Team Labuan, KB Bull Brothers Brunei and Red Qawai Penjara Limbang.

BRUNEI Darussalam cueist Haji Kamarulzaman bin Haji Pungut emerged champion of the BCSA 15 Red Snooker Championship 2019 after defeating Ahmad Taufiq Murni 4-1 in the final at the Billiards & Snooker Hall II of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Sunday.

The experienced snooker player raced to a 3-1 lead after Ahmad Taufiq needed snookers and eventually conceded the frame. The latter made it a shootout in the next frame after connecting with the pink and went for the black in an attempt to get back into the match.

BRUNEI Darussalam national para athlete Hirdan bin Haji Abdul Kadir continued his stellar form at the 2019 Arafura Games after bagging a bronze medal in the men’s open seated wheelchair shot put final at the Arafura Stadium in Darwin, Australia yesterday.
