BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - DARREN Chai and Stephanie Liew of Hybrid Movement will be looking to defend their titles in the men’s and women’s open categories at the 2nd Borneo Pangazou Functional Athletics Tournament in Kota Kinabalu this weekend.
Rachael Lee will travel with the duo and compete in the team category with teammates from X45 CrossFit Kinabalu.Organised by the Sabah Functional Athletics Society, the two-day competition will be held at the Oceanus Waterfront Mall with over 100 athletes from Malaysia and Brunei vying for top honours.
Chai, who is the founder and head trainer of Hybrid Movement, is hoping for the best at the tournament.
“I’m looking forward to this weekend’s competition with the Hybrid Movement team that are all competing in their own respective categories,” said Chai in a press statement.
“I believe that it will be a great experience and I have been training to the best of my ability - as I am also dealing with injury,” he added.
Hybrid Movement Functional Training Centre opened in Menglait in January.
Chai conducts athlete and sports performance training for sports specific individuals and sports teams while Liew conducts Hybrid Femme, which caters for the women community in the sultanate.
Lee conducts a basketball programme, Little Dribblers, for kids aged 4-8 years old as well as a weekly community fitness session for young athletes with intellectual disabilities.
