Aiman, Chok in BDTA Open Doubles semis

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - IT IS no surprise top seeds Md Aiman Abdullah and Ian Chok are through to today’s semi-finals of the third leg of the BDTA (Brunei Darussalam Tennis Association) Open Doubles tournament. The experienced pair, who won the first leg in April, booked their berth after dispatching Md Hardiyamin Hj Barudin and Darlin Sia 6-1, 6-1 at the National Tennis Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex on Wednesday night.

The victory sets them up a semi-final clash against their students Timothy Lim and Zen Sii, who defeated Harry Kwang and Francis Kwang 6-0, 6-2.

The game will be a rematch of the first leg final where the teachers triumphed 6-0, 6-0.

Second ranked Billy Wong and Mohd Yusree Hj Mohd Yusainey, who clinched the second leg in July, are also through to the last-four after beating Pg Amirul Sarni Pg Hj Sarpuddin and Mohd Amerul Hj Metusin 6-3, 6-0.

The Indonesian pair of Muhaimin Ismoen and Wewen Windara will be their next opponents after they eased past Ben Sii and Henry Kwang 6-0, 6-0.

Over in the ladies event, top ranked Chong Ming Rui and Lim Sin Yi will begin their campaign from the semi-finals, where they will take on Afiqah Adnan and Hafiizah Othman.

The other last-four match pits the pair of Joy Estrella and Foong Chong Chiew against Moeki Monica Okochi and Michaela Norris.

All matches will begin at 7pm.
