The Gegar Gegar men took the lead after Hendra Azam produced a sublime pass in the path of Billy Mehmet who expertly drilled a cool low finish in the 8th minute.

Hougang midfielder Fumiya Kogure has sent a teasing cross into the box which Sitom spilled over and thankfully Reduan Petara was present to guide the ball to safety.

Then, as the home defence were stretched, the impressive Kogure handed striker Pablo Aracil on the plate but Sitom produced an instinctive save from point blank range.

Ramazotti blazed his header just wide as the hosts looked to double their lead. On the other end, Kogure produced an ambitious long range effort which sailed harmlessly wide.

The hosts doubled the lead as the excellent Hendra Azam rifled home a stunning effort into the roof of the net on the stroke of half-time.

Ramazotti laid the ball for Azwan Ali whose shot deflected off a Hougang player for a corner.

The Cheetahs came agonisingly close to reducing the deficit after Kogure’s free kick brushed against the post.

The Japanese could not believe his luck after smashing the post from the edge of the box after being put through by substitute Nazrul Nazari.

The hosts suffered a blemish as Azwan Ali appeared to be feeling some discomfort when he exited the pitch and was replaced by Nurikhwan Othman.
