UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam (UBD) put up a brave fight despite falling to a 118-61 defeat to Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in a basketball fundraising game at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night. Eun Hoo Jo was the main contributor for SKKU as the highest scoring player after raking 35 points.

Although UBD notched the first points of the match, they were caught in a succession of turnovers in the early proceedings as the invited guests duly raced to a 21-0 runout.

SKKU closed the first quarter with a commanding 34-7 lead but UBD returned to the court as a much improved side as they brought on Kelvin who posed a threat.

The moment that triggered a brave response was initiated by a long throw from the defensive end of the court and was kept in play before Ammar completed a nice sequence of moves to the rousing cheers of the crowd.

UBD went on to take the second quarter 22-20 but SKKU inflicted more damage in the third gaining more distance with a 39-15 score.

UBD kept it close in the fourth quarter trailing 17-25 but the visiting South Koreans were too good.

The fundraising game will conclude with SKKU taking on Beruang Blazers tomorrow.
