64 attend briefing on silat competition

BRUNEI Darussalam Pencak Silat Federation (PERSIB) held a briefing to provide an update on the silat competition of the Brunei Darussalam National Games (SKBD), which will commence in early September, at the Menglait Sports Complex yesterday.

An executive committee member of PERSIB Pengiran Haji Abdul Karim bin Pengiran Haji Metassan shared that the kuntau category will be open for participants aged between 17 and 50 years, while the tanding is eligible for participants aged between 17 and 40 years. He added that opportunities will be provided for teenage competitors in the single, mixed and ganda events in which age eligibility is lowered for participants aged 14 to 40.

A total of 64 people including coaches and individuals from various teams in the country attended the briefing.

The briefing also saw a refresher course, among other pertinent issues, in which coaches are provided an understanding of the scoring system and how points that can be gained during the competition.

President of PERSIB Pengiran Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Ludin was also present.
