Hajah Marryiah honoured with Life Time Achievement Award

SECRETARY General of Brunei Darussalam Veteran Athletics Association Hajah Marryiah binti Haji Metussin received the International Life Time Achievement Award during the 12th India-Malaysia Friendship Award ceremony at Sunway Putra Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia recently. The award was organised by Samata Sahitya Academy India. His Highness Prince Sulaiman Shah Alhaj ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj of Selangor, Malaysia presented the awards to recipients.

Hajah Marryiah said, “This is my third award from this sports academy. The first was in India where I received Sports Friendship Award in 2013. The second award was in Thailand in 2017 where I was presented the Indo Thais Award and the third which is Life Time Achievement Award in 2019 in Kuala Lumpur. I am really happy and excited because His Highness of Selangor presented the awards. This is an honour for a veteran athlete in Brunei.”

Recalling her career in the sporting scene, she said, “I have been in this career for more than 20 years. In Brunei, many people know about Brunei Darussalam Veteran Athletics Association. Our team have won medals in competitions within and outside the country. Our next participation will be in Thailand from March 6-12.”
