KHALIFA Mixed Martial Arts and JiujiteiraBn, a local online support group for Bruneian female Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) practitioners, recently organised the first-ever women’s only BJJ seminar in the country at the Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts Academy.
The two-day seminar was taught by Claudia Do Val, the current world number one-ranked International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) female athlete, who is also a two-time IBJJF world champion and two-time European champion.
Claudia was in Brunei as part of her ‘Keep Calm and Omoplata’ Asian Tour as she travels around Asia for the first time to conduct BJJ seminars.
The seminar hoped to encourage more women in Brunei to take up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu due to its effectiveness for self-defence.
Claudia demonstrated to seminar participants her signature Spiderguard to Triangle and Omoplata techniques that she regularly utilises in competitions.
