SIXTY Nine emerged winners of a domestic title for the first time after they defeated Dark Justice 17-13 in the final of the Be a Netball Star Tournament at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex. The netball team has been one of the regular teams who actively featured in the local circuit owing to their participation in several tournaments in the country.

NB Licious settled for third place after beating Sakura in a keenly contested playoff.

Fourteen teams divided into two groups took part in the tournament. Group ‘A’ was made up of Tripple T, Doppleganger, MFA, Singa Gagah, Sakura and Dark Justice while Group ‘B’ comprised Sixty Nine, Dandelions, Gladiators, Tigress BN, NB Licious, SS Cubs and D Pirates.

The top two teams from each group advanced directly into the semi-final phase where they crossed over.

The tournament was only eligible for competitors who are outside the top 12 players who are involved in the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Netball Championships, Asian Youth Netball Championships and Asean School Games.

Meanwhile, three outstanding individuals were recognised for their contributions and efforts. Wazirah of Sakura was named Star Defence while Nurainah Hamdani of Sixty Nine won Star Shooter and Dayangku Nur Azimah binti Pengiran Haji Anuar named as the Star Player.
