DPMM FC held a selection for a newly assembled under-15 team at the Jerudong Mini Stadium on Sunday.
The team selection will enable the Brunei-based outfit to introduce young talents in the country and it also serves as a talent conveyor belt with opportunities for progression in football.
A total of 98 players registered for the under-15 team selection with about 30 players making the cut for the final squad.
Players who were born in 2004, 2005 and 2006 are eligible to take part in the team selections. They informed their preferred positions as they chose either to play in the goalkeeping position, defence, midfield or forward.
Some of the young players comprised those who have attended local schemes and have affiliations with local clubs such as MBS United.
After registration, a number of random teams were led to the field where players in each team played alongside each other for the first time.
Dozens of players would have to impress the DPMM FC coaches for their names to be considered in the final squad.
Those who watched from the stands were treated with players showcasing not only basic fundamentals of football but also good individual play which no doubt boosted their chances of selection.
Two years ago, DPMM FC held a team selection for the under-18 squad which attracted some 175 young footballers.
