BRUNEI Darussalam’s para athletes competing in international tournaments since 1986 produced very good results, collecting many medals including golds.
To date, Brunei had participated in sports such as athletics, swimming, chess, table tennis, goalball, tenpin bowling and bicycle.
In addition, badminton was introduced and potential para badminton players are training for future competitions.
These details were revealed at a seminar on ‘Introduction to Para Boccia Sport’, organised by PCBD last Saturday at the Lecture Hall, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Berakas.
The seminar was held to encourage People with Different Abilities (OKU) to be involved in para sports.
Physiotherapist Nurhafizah binti Md Noh from Brunei Neuroscience, Stroke and Rehabilitation Centre, Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre, who has more than 15 years of experience in the area and is also a qualified ‘classifier’ for cerebral palsy, conducted the seminar.
PCBD members, representatives from various non-governmental OKU organi-sations, parents of OKU, representatives from various schools and Para athletes were present.
