MB ATHLETE Brunei clinched fourth place out of 18 teams in the 2019 Shah Alam Mayor’s Cup Tug-Of-War Open Championship in Shah Alam, Malaysia recently.
The team returned to Brunei on Tuesday night. MBSA ‘A’ were the champions, followed by MBSA ‘B’ and Landak 69 MBIP.
The team was led by Mohammad Adzim bin Haji Ibrahim and founder and coach of MB Athlete Brunei Haji Norshamli bin Haji Salat.
They topped Group D of the tournament and qualified into the quarter-finals and beat Malaysia’s Tug-Of-War Defending Champion Otai Legend.
“We lost in the semi final to the host team MBSA ‘A’, where we finished fourth place and they (MBSA ‘A’) became the champion of the tournament, who gave us the greatest challenge,” Haji Norshamli told the Bulletin on arrival at the Brunei International Airport.
“We also finished fourth place in Sipitang earlier this year, and we will compete in Labuan on April 28. Hopefully we will get better results and gain more experience for future tournaments locally, regionally or internationally,” the coach said.
Media Relations Officer of the Brunei Darussalam Tug-Of-War Association Haji Armi @ G Aman was present to welcome the team at the Brunei International Airport.
