THE Brunei Youth U17 Handball Team led by the President of Brunei Darussalam Handball Federation Kifli bin Haji Jaafar returned to Brunei Darussalam from the 2019 Youth & Junior Women Asia Zone 1B International Handball Federation Trophy at Gor Popki, Jakarta, Indonesia yesterday afternoon at the Brunei International Airport with bronze medal. The Head Coach Adam Tan Chin Wai told the Bulletin that the team is still new and they were not prepared during the first match but gradually gained momentum towards the end.

“The most challenging team came from Thailand, they are more experienced, have more mature players and played much faster.

“The team will try to participate in more domestic games and play around Borneo before going international. We will try to develop the team and win for the country.

“Next year, we will try to send the boys’ team. We will try to organise inter-school tournaments and then local tournaments where we can invite neighbouring countries to join. That way, we can gain more experience for the team.”

Assistant Coach Norkhairunnisa binti Haji Matussin said, “We gained a lot of experience and friendship during the tournament. We also gathered information and developed drilling techniques that we can implement on our team.”
