UiTM FC forward Adi Said played an instrumental role in the build-up to the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win over UKM FC in the Malaysia Premier League at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam, Malaysia recently.
The Brunei national striker, who is assigned as the team’s designated corner kick taker, delivered an in-swinging ball which was met by Amer in the box. The substitute fired a shot across goal and foreign import Zarko Korac guided the ball home from close range in the 83rd minute.
Earlier, Adi came close to providing an assist to the goal scorer after chipping the ball from the edge of the box but the Montengerin’s effort was thwarted by UKM shot stopper Amin Faisal Saidi.
Nevertheless, Korac’s lone goal in the ‘University Derby’ proved enough to seal the win as the Lion Troops climbed to second in the table. The striker has been a revelation since his prolonged arrival at the club as he topped the scoring charts with nine goals.
Adi’s club currently trail league leaders Johor Darul Ta’azim II by two points while Sabah follow closely in third place having played a game less.
The former DPMM FC player impressed in his debut with the Malaysian outfit after netting twice in the 3-1 win over PDRM FA in the opening game of the season.
He recorded his first assist in the 3-3 draw against Kelantan when his perfectly taken corner was matched with an astute finish by Zarko Korac.
UiTM FC are on course to meet their target of a top four finish having tasted defeat only once in their last five league appearances.
