BRUNEI Darussalam cueist Md Hasrijam bin Haji Hasan was placed fifth in the Swan City Invitational Snooker Championship at the Executive 3 Snooker Centre in Sibu, Sarawak recently.
The snooker player, one of four Bruneians who competed in the Sarawak meet, exited the quarter-final stage after a narrow 4-3 defeat to eventual champion Ricardo Sim.
The 50-year-old businessman went on to clinch the title after a 4-2 victory (63-24, 55-14, 13-64, 57-48, 3-54, 62-26) over Tan Chin Yong, who fell in the final hurdle again after his runner-up finish to Rolando Lim in the Sarawak Closed tournament in Kuching previously.
The other Brunei representatives who competed in the tournament were Mohd Amir Hasan Kamis, Mohd Fa’ez Ahmad and Mohd Sufri Abdul Rahman.
Presenting the prizes was Chairman of the Swan City Recreational Club Sibu (SCRCS) Mark Yeo. Also present at the prize presentation ceremony was Malaysian Snooker & Billiards Federation Secretary General Iskandar Perwira Putra Abdullah Sanggura.
Organised by the SCRCS, the tournament attracted a host of fine talents from Borneo.
The competition was contested in a single knock-out basis in accordance with international rules.
A total of 32 competitors took part in the five-day tournament, which culminated with the final on May 10.
