BRUNEI Darussalam Sports Schools Council (MSSSBD) athletes left the country on Wednesday to compete in the 11th ASEAN School Games in Semarang, Indonesia from July 17-25.
Leading the 36 athletes and 18 officers is Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education Mohamed Jais bin Haji Abdul Rahman as the Chef de Mission. Also accompanying the contingent is Deputy Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh as the President of ASEAN Sports Schools Council (ASSC).
Chef de Mission Mohamed Jais told the Bulletin that the young athletes have participated in vigorous training sessions since December last year and they are eager to do their best in the competition.
They will compete in badminton, track and field, swimming, sepak takraw, pencak silat and table tennis.
The ASEAN School Games aims to enhance the sporting spirit among students, while also driving social development through sports cooperation network, active communication and cooperation in sports.
