STANDARD Chartered Bank (SCB) Brunei will participate once again in the annual Standard Chartered Games in Singapore from August 23-24 in conjunction with Standard Chartered Singapore’s 160th anniversary.
The SCB Brunei contingent comprising over 40 athletes and supporters from Brunei will compete against teams from Standard Chartered Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand and Hong Kong in basketball, netball (ladies and mixed), pool, tennis, triathlon, bowling, futsal and golf.
SCB Brunei Chief Executive Officer Pengiran Aki Ismasufian bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim said being a part of an international organisation that has successfully incorporated the spirit of sports across its markets is just one of the many reasons that makes him proud to be with SCB, where staff engagement transcends borders.
“This event allows different markets to participate in various sports in healthy competition and to deepen existing relationships with our regional counterparts,” he said.
The Standard Chartered Games was first introduced in the 1980s between Standard Chartered Singapore and Malaysia only.
This year will see SCB Brunei participating for the fifth consecutive year.
With the annual sports meet forming part of Standard Chartered Singapore’s 160th anniversary celebration, organisers have promised this year’s Games to be bigger and better, with eight countries and 730 staff athletes participating in the two-day event.
