The 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championships, taking place from August 16-24, received a massive boost with the signing of sponsorship agreements from several private companies.
Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, the guest of honour, witnessed the signing at the Theatre Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Youth and Sports) at the MCYS Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Maiddin bin Pengiran Haji Said, President of the Brunei Darussalam Wushu Federation Lim Boon Hwa, Deputy President of the Brunei Darussalam Wushu Federation Md Firdaus Abdul Rahman and organising committee members were also present.
The companies who signed the sponsorship agreements among others included TLT Enterprise, Audiomarc Company, D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd, Senja Restaurant and Sahid Sdn Bhd.
Brunei’s national junior wushu athletes are training for the championship.
The Brunei Darussalam team is represented by Aaron Jinyi Phung, Abel Lim Wee Yuen, Majdurano Joel bin Majallah Sain, Mohammad Safiee Shayferan bin Roslan, Walid Lachkar, Lim Wei Jun, Hosea Wong Zheng Yu, Basma Lachkar, Dexuan Ling, Nur Bastrishia Ripin, Lim Yee Sean, Chiam Ziqi and Ziyan Li.
They will compete in several disciplines including the duel event, changquan, gunshu, nanquan, daoshu, taijiquan, 42 forms taijiquan, taijijian, nangun, jianshu and group event.
Wushu athletes from 21 Asian countries are expected to compete in the championship.
