Eight International School Brunei (ISB) students returned home on September 12 after bagging 22 medals in the Global Round of the World Scholar’s Cup in Manila, the Philippines.
All three teams from ISB have qualified for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held at Yale University in the United States (US) in November.
The World Scholar’s Cup is a prestigious academic decathlon run between international schools across 52 countries. The competition aims to improve the skills required for entry to top universities in a friendly and fun learning environment.
ISB students demonstrated prowess, teamwork, and resilience during the six days of the Scholar’s Cup. They excelled in all events, triumphing in the team debate, collaborative writing, Scholar’s Challenge, and Scholar’s Bowl.
ISB students also promoted and shared the Bruneian culture with over 300 teams of competitors from different countries, through conversation and their cultural booth at the Global Cultural Fair.
They received huge applause for performing the traditional dance Aduk-aduk in the scholar’s talent show.
Team leader Ether He said, “We are proud of ISB students who have participated in the World Scholar’s programme. We are looking forward to compete at Yale University in November 2019.”
