Bruneians complete 150km canoe journey from Labuan (2019)

Bruneian canoeists, who travelled over 100km from Labuan to Brunei Darussalam as part of the Brunei Bay Kayak Expedition, were celebrated on their arrival at the Serasa Beach on Tuesday.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman as the Acting Penghulu of Mukim Serasa and Village Head of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong was present.

Also at the event were President of the Brunei Darussalam Kayak Association Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Acting Director of Youth and Sports Mariam binti Ulat, Director of Youth and Sports Department of the Federal Territory of Labuan Mahanum binti Fauzi and Secretary-General of the Brunei Darussalam Kayak Association Major (Rtd) Md Talip bin Haji Mohd Tahir.

Some 40 canoeists from Brunei Darussalam Kayak Association and Labuan Canoe Association travelled 150km starting from Labuan, and went through Sipitang, Lawas and Serasa Beach as the final stop.

The expedition was led by President of the Labuan Canoe Association Mohd Yunus bin Mohd Waidin, along with some Bruneians.

Participants also received certificates of participation from Pengiran Haji Mohamed.
