Survey Department emerged overall winners of the Ministry of Development (MoD) and its departments under it Tenpin Bowling Championship at the iBowl Utama Bowling in Batu Satu on Sunday.
The department also achieved top place in the Men’s Open and Women’s Open categories and finished as runners-up in the Division III, IV and V category.
Survey Department accumulated 1,758 pinfalls in the Men’s Open to emerge winners while Land Department took the runners-up spot with 1,598 pinfalls. Department of Building Services (DBS) settled for third place with 1539 pinfalls.
Meanwhile, Haji Md Syafi’ie bin Haji Md Daud from the Survey Department scooped both the High Game and High Series after he recorded a haul of 192 and 545 pinfalls, respectively.
In the Women’s Open category, Survey Department accumulated 1,645 pinfalls en route to first place followed by Land Department with 1,596 pinfalls and Department of Administration and Finance (DAF) with 1,375 pinfalls in second and third place.
Dayangku Hajah Nadia binti Pengiran Haji Jafar from the Land Department won the High Game award after she collected 201 pinfalls while Hajah Jarah binti Haji Sulaiman from the Survey Department emerged winner of the High Series with 523 pinfalls.
The Land Department emerged winners in the Division III, IV and V category after they recorded a total of 1,767 pinfalls. Survey Department finished as runners-up with a total of 1,702 pinfalls while Department of Building Services came in third with 1,578 pinfalls.
Md Sufri @ Bohari bin Haji Sabli from the Department of Building Services won the High Game with 196 pinfalls while Haji Adanan bin Haji Sidis from the Land Department emerged winner of the High Series with 537 points.
The Ministry of Development bowling tournament concluded with the VIP category which was won by the Department of Technical Services (DTS) with a total of 1,856 pinfalls. Department of Building Services took the runners-up spot with 1,770 pinfalls while Land Department snatched third place with 1,741 pinfalls.
Alias bin Haji Idris from the Survey Department emerged winner of both the High Game and High Series with a total of 217 and 539 pinfalls, respectively.

Also present at the event were Deputy Minister of Development Dato Seri Paduka Ar Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin; Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the MoD Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak; Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the MoD Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria; heads of department and sections as well as officers and staff from the ministry.
Nine teams participated in the VIP category, six teams in the Division II, IV and V category and eight teams each in the Women’s Open and Men’s Open categories.
The participating teams included Land Department, Survey Department, Department of Building Services, Department of Technical Services, Department of Mechanical and Electrical, Department of Administration and Finance, Department of Road, Department of Development, Department of Town and Country Planning, Housing Development Department and Public Works Department.
The competition aimed to encourage officers and staff in departments under the MoD to be active in sporting activities; to enhance understanding and cooperation as a team among the officers and staff; foster closer ties as well as to identify players among the Ministry of Development community in events at the inter-ministry, national or international level.
