Brunei Darussalam have been handed a tough draw in the men’s football tournament in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the Philippines next month. The draw was conducted at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Manila yesterday.
The young Wasps have been drawn in Group ‘B’ alongside defending champions Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and Laos.
Group ‘A’ comprises hosts the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Timor Leste.
The other teams that finished on the podium in the previous edition of the SEA Games were Malaysia and Indonesia, both having won silver and bronze medals.
The men’s football tournament, which will kick off on November 26, is capped at under-22 level, with a maximum of two overaged players allowed in each team.
The top two teams from each group will qualify to the semi-finals.
The football event of the SEA Games will begin before the opening ceremony on November 30.
