The Royal Bees receive bag sponsorship for SEA Games (2019)

The Brunei Darussalam national netball team received morale support from Borneo Middle East Trading Co (BMETCo) during a handover ceremony in the form of an Under Armour sports bag at the Istana Nurul Izzah in Jerudong last night.

Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah, captain of the Brunei Darussalam national team, received the sports bag from President of Brunei Netball Association (BNA) Lieutenant Wan Shahlimar binti Haji Suhaili.

Earlier, Manager of BMETCo Pengiran Haji Emran bin Pengiran Setia Wijaya Pengiran Haji Ahmad presented the sports bag to the BNA President.

Brunei Darussalam national netball team, or known as The Royal Bees, played an exhibition match as part of their final preparations before they head to Manila, Philippines to compete in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was in attendance during the behind-closed-doors match.

Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud and Chef de Mission for the Brunei Darussalam national contingent to the 30th SEA Games Haji Muhd Zamri bin Dato Paduka Haji Hamdani were also present.

The Royal Bees, under the tutelage of head coach Jane Searle, will renew their rivalry against Thailand in their opening fixture on November 26.

They will continue their campaign against Singapore and Malaysia, two nations that are highly likely to contest the SEA Games netball final.

Brunei will conclude group stage play against Philippines, a team Searle has labelled as an unknown quantity, on November 29. The semi-finals will see a crossover of the top four teams on December 1 where they will battle for a place in the final on December 2.

The netball competition will take place in Santa Rosa in the Philippines province of Laguna.
