Brunei Darussalam competitor Nasrul Azizi bin Haji Mohaimin put his country on the map after he clinched top spot in the Men’s Open Physique Class ‘C’ of the 2019 Olympia Amateur Japan at the Bellesalle Shibuya Garden in Tokyo, Japan recently.
There were a total of six classes from Class A to F in the Physique Class ‘C’ category. The classes were categorised according to height.
The winners from every class were again put together and compared. Only the top three overall champions received a pro card. Nasrul Azizi came in fourth place overall.
Held under International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB), Amateur Olympia is a bodybuilding and physique competition for all athletes around the world to get a pro card.
Nasrul Azizi expressed his pride after besting his field against international competitors in a prestigious event.
“I feel proud to put Brunei on the map in one of the most prestigious bodybuilding events. It takes discipline and dedication. I always believe if you really want it, you will get it!” said Nasrul Azizi in an interview with the Bulletin.
The event marked Nasrul Azizi’s second attempt as previously he finished seventh in the same class at the Japan Classic in Shinjuku, Japan.
The local physique athlete commenced training in February for his first trial before making some adjustments for his recent competition. The competition drew around 300 athletes from 43 countries.
