Meeting boosts Brunei-Japan karatedo development (2020)

A Japanese delegation met with Brunei Darussalam Karatedo Federation (BDKF) members recently to discuss potential cooperation in karatedo.

The delegation comprising three officials from Atami City of Shizuoka Prefecture Japan stressed the need to promote sports cooperation under the Tokyo Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 2020 host town programme. The delegation represented Atami City’s congresses Murayama Kenzo, Deputy Director for Tourism Development Department of Atami City Tatsumi Shuji and Vice Chairman of the Atami-Brunei Friendship Association Ikeda Shuichi.

Accompanied by Advisor to the President for Brunei Affairs of Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) Okouchi Hiroshi, the delegation held a discussion with President of BDKF Pengiran Haji Yura Kestria bin Pengiran Setia Negara Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusof, Deputy President (Operation) of BDKF Hajah Noorul Sulastrie binti Haji Sabtu, Deputy President (Technical) of BDKF Mohammad bin Haji Ladis and Secretary General of BDKF Haji Malai Jeffery bin Haji Malai Mohammad.

Matters discussed included people exchange programmes to invite Brunei karatedo exponents and management to train and learn about the history and culture of karatedo in Japan.
