Former DPMM FC forward Daud Gazale made an immediate impact at the start of the season with his current club Deportes Concepcion after scoring in consecutive matches in the Campeonato Segunda Division in Chile.

The experienced forward followed up his strike in the opening day of the season in a 2-1 victory against Colchagua CD last month with a goal in the 3-2 defeat against Deportes Colina.

However, Gazale’s time on the field against Colina earlier this week was cut short after he appeared to run into discomfort and was subsequently replaced by Hernan Veras in the 18th minute.

The 36-year old appeared to be in fine form as he rifled his shot into the bottom corner for the opening goal of the game at the Estadio Bicentenario Municipal de La Florida.

His two-goal heroics with the El Conce catapulted him as his team’s leading top scorer after two games in the Chilean third division.

Gazale, who once attracted interest from French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Real Betis, played for DPMM FC under the guidance of former head coach Steve Kean in the 2017 season after joining the club from Chilean outfit Audax Italiano.

The Chilean enjoyed one of his best performances with the Gegar Gegar men when he opened his account during the 2-1 win against Hougang United at the Hougang Stadium.

He left the club at the end of the season with the club sitting in eighth place.

Gazale returned to his boyhood club after 12 years in a career which took him to Romania, Mexico, Argentina and Brunei. He began his professional career with Deportes Conception where he scored 23 goals in 64 appearances.

The Chilean enjoyed success when he helped Universidad Catolica win the Copa Chile in 2011 with his goal in the second leg against Magallanes proving crucial as they emerged victorious in penalties.

His former side also gained a place in the Copa Sudamericana, the second most prestigious international club tournament organised by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL).

Deportes Concepcion, who were promoted after finishing runner-up in the Tercera Division – Chile’s fourth tier in football – currently lie seventh in the 12-member table.

The club will meet second-placed Fernandez Vial next for their first home game of the season at the Estadio Ester Roa.
