Manchester United scrap Gulf region training camp plans amid rising tensions

Manchester United face Wolves in a FA Cup third-round replay on Wednesday



Manchester United have scrapped plans for a training camp in the Gulf region during next month's winter break because of security concerns.

United do not play for 16 days between Premier League ties against Wolves on 1 February and at Chelsea on 17 February.

Tottenham pulled out of their recent slump to book an FA Cup fourth-round place with a 2-1 replay victory over Middlesbrough.

Jonathan Woodgate, the former Spurs defender, saw his team take the lead and battle to a 1-1 draw at the Riverside Stadium 10 days ago but they were the architects of their own downfall in north London.

Turkey legend Sukur driving Uber after Erdogan conflict


The legendary striker became an enemy of the Turkish government after leaving the president's AKP party in 2013, having his assets seized

 

Galatasaray and Turkey legend Hakan Sukur has revealed he is driving for Uber and selling books in the United States, claiming Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan "took everything" from him.

The 48-year-old former striker, who also represented Inter and Blackburn among other clubs, says he has been denounced as an enemy of the Turkish state and had his assets seized.

Tottenham: Benfica's Gedson Fernandes due for medical before loan move to Spurs

Fernandes is reported to have a release clause of is £102m but he has only played seven times in the league this season



Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes is due to have a medical at Tottenham on Monday before an 18-month loan to the Premier League club.

Fernandes had been targeted by West Ham but has opted instead to join Jose Mourinho at Spurs.
