Philippe Coutinho's superb individual goal ensured Liverpool progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League at the expense of Manchester United after a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Jurgen Klopp's team claimed a dominant 2-0 win at Anfield a week ago but United were much improved from that lacklustre showing and sparked hopes of a turnaround when the impressive Anthony Martial won and netted a 32nd-minute penalty.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will not be punished for making a gesture to Everton fans during his side's 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park.

The Spaniard was asked by the Football Association to explain the gesture, made as he left the pitch at half-time.
