German Grand Prix cut from Formula 1 schedule

The German Grand Prix has been cut from the Formula 1 calendar for 2015, leaving just 19 races on the schedule.

Hockenheim hosted the event in 2014, won by Nico Rosberg, but is supposed to alternate with the Nurburgring.

However, the Nurburgring has changed ownership and baulked at paying the hosting fees for the 19 July race.

Graeme Lowdon: Manor Marussia 'can overcome issues' for Malaysia

President and sporting director Graeme Lowdon is confident Manor Marussia will overcome technical difficulties which forced them off the grid in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.



Despite arriving in Melbourne in time after late investment, the team were hampered by software issues.

The Malaysian Grand Prix on 27-29 March has been earmarked for the car's debut.

"We'll be in a much better position by the time we get to Kuala Lumpur," Lowdon told BBC Look North.

Van der Garde says F1 dream over as Sauber contract cancelled

Giedo van der Garde says his dream of driving in Formula 1 has been "taken away" after agreeing to cancel his contract with Sauber.

The Dutch driver has reached a settlement following a legal dispute ahead of the new season.

Van der Garde, 29, issued a statement saying his contract with Sauber has been "ended by mutual consent".

Fernando Alonso prepares to drive McLaren car simulator

Fernando Alonso is to drive the McLaren simulator this week as he plots his return to the track.

The double world champion missed the first race of the season in Australia to recover from concussion suffered in a crash in pre-season testing.

"We have a programme to help Fernando back to racing and he plans to be in a simulator," said a McLaren spokesman.
