Thirteen firefighters from the Jerudong Fire Station, led by DSO Misli bin Haji Pungut, responded to a house fire in the vicinity of Kampong Jerudong on Thursday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) said the crew alerted at 7.49pm, arrived at the scene to find a small fire on the ground level of a two-storey structure.
The house residents had vacated the premises before the arrival of the firefighters. One resident had also attempted to douse the flames with a fire extinguisher. The fire was brought under control within three minutes. The cause and the estimated damages are still being investigated.
Meanwhile, the public is reminded to make sure their homes are equipped with fire extinguishers of the dry powder type, along with fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors.
Any installation of wiring and electrical equipment should be done by qualified technicians. Electrical appliances must be switched off after use or before leaving the house.
Ensure to cover and unplug the gas regulator, when not in use.
